Definitives from Swamiji

For the Highest Good! Amen.

Living at Satchidananda Ashram, I spend a fair amount of time listening to and reading the words of Sri Swami Satchidananda. Every now and then, the communication arises in the form of a definitive. Generally, I do my best to avoid using words like always, never, should, have to, can’t, etc., but when I hear the words coming from a great spiritual teacher, I listen. For a while, I’ve wanted to compile such a list of the times when words such as the ones previously mentioned arise in the teachings.
This is a work in progress!

Always
– “Always affirm, ‘I am peaceful. I am joyful.'”

Nevers
– Referring to if someone suggests if one mantra or even one religion is better than another, “Don’t ever do that.”

Commands
– Smile at everybody.
– Whatever you do, do it in the name of God
